Paramahansa Yogananda on Living Fearlessly

Paramahansa Yogananda 1935

Inspiration from the August eNewsletter

This month we share inspiring thoughts from Paramahansa Yogananda on how to courageously overcome any type of fear that may beset us as we face the daily challenges of life.

Teach me, O Infinite Spirit! that whether I am awake or asleep, alert or daydreaming, living or dying, Thine all-protecting presence encircles me.

When the consciousness is kept on God, you will have no fears; every obstacle will then be overcome by courage and faith.

Fear comes from the heart. If ever you feel overcome by dread of some illness or accident, you should inhale and exhale deeply, slowly, and rhythmically several times, relaxing with each exhalation. This helps the circulation to become normal. If your heart is truly quiet you cannot feel fear at all.

Do not take life's experiences too seriously. Above all, do not let them hurt you, for in reality they are nothing but dream experiences....Trust in God and destroy fear, which paralyzes all efforts to succeed and attracts the very thing you fear.

O Divine Lion of Courage! teach me to overcome fear by understanding its uselessness. May I not anesthetize with foreboding my unlimited ability as Thy child to meet successfully any test of life.

Take time to shift your consciousness away from vexing concerns and fears, and toward inner soul peace, by experiencing our new guided meditation, “Living Fearlessly,” which employs visualization, affirmation, and meditation to lead you to a greater sense of courage and security.
