Join a special guided meditation led by a Self-Realization Fellowship monk to celebrate the 2026 International Day of Yoga on Sunday, June 21, 10:00 a.m. (Pacific Time).
We invite you to join us in celebrating the 2026 United Nations International Day of Yoga by participating in a special online guided meditation led by Self-Realization Fellowship monk Brother Tyagananda. This meditation is designed especially for beginners — no prior experience needed. All are welcome to come and experience for themselves the calming and uplifting effects of yoga meditation as taught by Paramahansa Yogananda.
Established by the United Nations in 2014, the International Day of Yoga is celebrated each year on June 21 to raise awareness worldwide about the many physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of India’s ancient science of the soul. Around the world, people participate in events exploring how yoga can help bring greater balance, clarity, and inner peace to their lives. For many, it is also an opportunity to discover yoga as a path of meditation leading to inner stillness and awareness of our true soul-nature.
The meaning of yoga is “union” and Paramahansa Yogananda, who has become known as “the father of Yoga in the West,” explained that the path of yoga is the science of uniting the joy of the soul with the unending bliss of Spirit. And he emphasized that the practice of yoga meditation is meant for everyone. We all can learn to calm the body and quiet the mind, and gradually become more identified with our deepest soul qualities — to bring forth from within ourselves a truly lasting peace, love, and joy that do not depend on any outer circumstances of life.
We invite you to learn about the Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons, Paramahansa Yogananda’s personal instruction in the science of yoga meditation and the art of balanced living.
