With heart absorbed in Me, and by My grace, thou shalt overcome all impediments.
God Talks With Arjuna: The Bhagavad Gita
Dear Ones,
Joyous greetings to each one of you at this auspicious time of Janmashtami! I am joining you and the many devotees around the world in celebrating the birth anniversary of Bhagavan Sri Krishna, divine messenger of the infinite love, wisdom, power, and beauty of God. He lived as a king and as a yogi, demonstrating through the example of his life and through the Raja Yoga of the Bhagavad Gita that it is possible to manifest God-consciousness while also fulfilling our earthly responsibilities.
How fortunate we are that our guru, Paramahansa Yoganandaji, has revealed the quintessence of yoga so comprehensively in the SRF/YSS Lessons — the same science of self-mastery extolled in the Gita by Bhagavan Krishna thousands of years ago. Reverent practice of the Kriya Yoga techniques of meditation allows us to become conscious that we are not the body nor the mind, with their weaknesses and self-limiting sense-bent likes and dislikes, but the immortal soul, a reflection of Spirit. We can live in the royalty of soul-consciousness as did Sri Krishna, through daily meditation and righteous activity, overcoming all impediments by the magnanimous grace and blessings of the Divine.
The Lord has not left us alone in this spiritual pursuit, but is affectionately by our side as an eternal friend: protecting us during the storms of delusion, guiding us as a wise charioteer through the battlefield of life, and even joyously dancing with us as our beloved companion in the cosmic dream-drama. The many names of Sri Krishna show us that God can play any role to free us from the bondage of maya, especially when we imbue our divine quest with devotion.
May Bhagavan Krishna’s promise of victory and personal help to all spiritual aspirants who walk the golden middle path of meditation plus virtuous action in the world empower us with renewed heroism to discover our vast soul-potentials. Then, we can live in this world not as vulnerable human beings, but as radiant instruments of the wisdom-song of Spirit, spreading divine love and joy to all.
Wishing you and your dear ones a most blessed Janmashtami.
Jai Sri Krishna! Jai Guru!
Brother Chidananda
