The sacred relationship between guru and disciple is the highest of all relationships. In this talk, Self-Realization Fellowship monk Brother Sevananda explains how this relationship can become very personal and meaningful for each of us. The guru is ever-present, regardless of physical proximity, and thus understands the disciple more intimately than anyone else can — and offers unconditional divine love and wisdom-guidance uniquely suited to the individual nature and specific needs of the disciple at every point along the path of spiritual development until final emancipation in Spirit is attained.
This talk was part of the 2025 SRF World Convocation, a weeklong program of classes on Paramahansa Yogananda’s “how-to-live” teachings and meditation techniques, guided group meditations and kirtans (devotional chanting), virtual pilgrimage tours to the ashrams where Paramahansaji lived and communed with the Divine, and more.
