    Kriya Yoga Initiation Ceremonies

We are happy that you have registered for the Kriya Yoga Initiation Ceremony to be held during the SRF World Convocation. May this sacred ceremony bring you a deeper relationship with God and our Gurus, and may They deeply bless you as you receive the priceless spiritual treasure, Kriya Yoga—either for the first time, or as you renew your commitment as a Kriyaban disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda.

    Traditional Offerings (Pranami)

In keeping with ancient custom, please bring traditional offerings (pranami) made by the disciple to the guru at the time of spiritual initiation:

    1) Flowers (or a single choice flower), symbolizing the disciple’s unconditional love for and loyalty to God, Christ, and the Gurus of Self-Realization Fellowship. As this is a sacred offering, one should refrain from taking any part of it by inhaling the fragrance of the flowers before they are placed at the altar.

    2) Fruit, which symbolizes the fruits of past wrong actions that will be destroyed in the fires of right living and Kriya Yoga meditation.

    3) A donation, symbolizing willing sacrifice of that which is materially valuable in order to receive the treasures of Spirit, and recognition that one’s first duty is to God, the Giver of all gifts. (Your donation should be in a sealed envelope.)

Those who are attending an initiation for the first time will come forward to the altar during the ceremony and will offer their pranami at that time. Your offerings should be arranged so that you can carry them easily, keeping them in your hand or resting them in your lap (rather than placing them on the floor).

Kriyabans who have already attended an initiation are invited to come forward to the altar before the ceremony to offer their pranami. The chapel will be open before the initiation to allow time for this, so please plan to arrive early.

Please note: Fruit and flowers will be available on a donation basis at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel starting the day before the ceremony.

    Preparing for this Sacred Ceremony

If possible, remain quiet and meditative throughout the day of initiation and keep silence after you arrive for the ceremony. Dress appropriately, as you would for any important religious service. The ceremony will last approximately three hours.

Please show your Convocation badge with QR code for admittance.

    Guru Disciple relationship3

In Autobiography of a Yogi Paramahansa Yogananda wrote: “The world’s scriptures declare man to be not a corruptible body but a living soul; in Kriya Yoga he finds a method to prove the scriptural affirmation.” We pray that through his blessings and your own faithful practice, you may see the fulfillment of these words in your own deepening inner realization.

May you feel the grace and blessings of God and Gurus flowing to you during this sacred ceremony, inspiring you to practice Kriya with deep faith and devotion. And may your devoted practice of this holy science bring you, in ever-increasing measure, the perfect joy your soul is seeking.
