In this appeal we have updates to share with you that reflect this expanding wave of spiritual unfolding: a new online teachings global distribution hub, the anticipated start of the construction phase of the International Headquarters Retrofit and Rehabilitation Project, developments in our monastic senior care program, and a new webpage dedicated to keeping you informed about SRF’s latest initiatives.

In 1925, Paramahansa Yogananda founded the International Headquarters of Self-Realization Fellowship in Los Angeles as a lasting spiritual beacon for worldwide dissemination of India’s timeless yoga science of universal spirituality. Now, as we enter the next century of this sacred work, SRF is reaching even more truth seekers around the globe by using dynamic, far-reaching digital technology.
Thanks to a generous philanthropic offer, we are creating a groundbreaking online portal that will make Paramahansa Yogananda’s voluminous legacy of teachings freely accessible in multiple languages at no cost. This project is currently in the development phase, with a launch date to be determined later this year. This innovative portal will make it possible for millions of people — many encountering Yogananda’s teachings for the first time — to freely access his teachings from anywhere in the world.
To fully realize this inspiring vision and welcome the many new seekers who will be drawn to Paramahansaji’s timeless wisdom, SRF is planning to further enhance our operational systems, strengthen technology, and increase staffing for programs, outreach, and membership services. Your partnership and support are essential to this unfolding work, helping us prepare to warmly support the innumerable souls who will be touched by the light of this beloved world teacher.
We are pleased to share that the SRF International Headquarters (the Mother Center) will remain open through Convocation 2026 as we prepare for the International Headquarters (IHQ) Retrofit and Rehabilitation Project, with the construction phase to begin in fall 2026 (pending final permit approvals from the City of Los Angeles), and to last approximately three years.
A project team of monastics and professionals has been carefully planning this major initiative for a number of years, creating detailed plans for essential seismic and fire-safety upgrades to the historic main building; meticulous preservation of the sacred pilgrimage sites blessed by Paramahansaji’s presence (including his third-floor shrine rooms); and many other necessary improvements, including accessibility upgrades in compliance with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards. A special Garden Shrine for quiet reflection and meditation will also be created as a permanent memorial to Paramahansa Yogananda (shown above).
Your support is essential to bringing this project to fruition. As we finalize preparations for the construction phase, we are seeking your generous participation to help fund this vital effort to safeguard and perpetuate the spiritual home of SRF for generations to come.
Self‑Realization Fellowship is continuing to take thoughtful steps to ensure compassionate long‑term care for the growing number of aging senior monastics — those who have devoted their lives to serving God and Paramahansa Yogananda’s work. We are developing plans to expand our current senior care program, and have recently established a new facility in Southern California to care for some of the senior monks.
We are committed to providing loving care to all of our elderly monastics in harmony with our spiritual values and guidance given by Sri Daya Mata and succeeding SRF Presidents to ensure that aging monks and nuns remain connected to and supported by the broader monastic community.
Our monks and nuns are working closely with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals to plan and implement a holistic approach to monastic wellness and senior care across all of our ashrams. Your generosity helps ensure our elder monks and nuns remain supported and cared for within the monastic community.
In January 2026, during a livestreamed event at the Mother Center, SRF/YSS President Brother Chidananda announced the launch of a new webpage dedicated to sharing current and future SRF projects to further the spiritual mission of Paramahansa Yogananda — and ways you can get involved and offer support. This page reflects a forward‑looking vision for expanding SRF’s capacity to serve seekers worldwide through thoughtful growth, enhanced services, and reverent stewardship of our Guru’s legacy.

Contributions in response to Self-Realization Fellowship’s May 2026 Appeal are for the general support of SRF. As such, gifts shall be designated as, and remain, unrestricted and can be utilized for purposes SRF determines. Donations designated for this Appeal received later than approximately twelve months after the mailing date of the Appeal will be credited to SRF’s most recent general appeal at that time.
Self-Realization Fellowship is recognized as exempt from U.S. federal income taxation under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and classified as a public charity pursuant to Sections 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)(i) of the Internal Revenue Code by the Internal Revenue Service of the United States. Self-Realization Fellowship’s federal tax identification number with the Internal Revenue Service is 95-1942336. Accordingly, gifts and bequests to Self-Realization Fellowship are deductible to the maximum extent permitted by law for U.S. federal income tax and estate tax purposes, respectively.
