Position Summary

Lead the solution, development and continuous improvement of software systems that support volunteer operations, programs, and Youth Services at Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF). The role will collaborate closely with department and program leaders, including volunteers, to address technology needs, and foster a culture of innovation.

Guide the operations of our Audience Engagement software development team, which is focused on developing cloud-based web applications and micro services that serve SRF members and truth-seekers.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and experience with SRF principles and standards
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in hands-on technical management, building web-based software solutions and micro services.
  • 5+ years’ experience in software engineering of web-based applications.
  • Strong background in software development practices and methodologies, with experience managing development lifecycles, and optimizing development processes for efficiency and quality.
  • Extensive experience in evaluating and guiding software architecture decisions to ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability, with a strategic focus to meet long-term organizational goals.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and SDLC tools (e.g., Jira) is essential.
  • Strong understanding of security standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices for data integrity, application security, and risk management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders, and foster collaboration across diverse teams.
  • Proven ability to mentor, inspire, and manage teams, including role definition, and fostering a collaborative, service-oriented culture.
  • Familiarity with web development architecture and JavaScript/TypeScript across backend (Node.js) and frontend (React/Next.js).

Responsibilities

  • Leading technical execution and guiding development teams in all aspects of the software development life cycle, including design, development, testing, and deployments, to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of software engineers, providing guidance and support to promote professional growth and high performance.
  • Planning and prioritization of the backlog, allocation of assignments to team members, tracking the execution of the project, and mitigating risks
  • Collaborating with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to determine feasibility and scope of execution.
  • Provide guidance & direction to engineering team in design, architecture, implementation, validation and monitoring.
  • Ensuring that software quality and coding standards are met. Setting and enforcing code standards, developing unit testing strategies, and implementing continuous improvement processes
  • Manage   the training of engineering talent to build and maintain a skilled team.
  • Communicate the progress, risks, and outcomes to senior management and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation within the team.
  • Ensure applications comply with regulatory and security standards, implementing measures to safeguard sensitive data and maintain data integrity.
  • Manage vendor’s relationships through regular performance reviews, feedback loops, and maintaining high standards of accountability and service quality.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, engagement, and spirit of service to support SRF’s mission.
  • Honor and maintain a strict level of confidentiality
  • Other position-related tasks, as assigned.

Additional Details

This is a full-time, salaried-exempt position: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. PST.

The position is remote for those residing in CA, CO, TX, AZ, VT and VA.

Pay range: $140,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year depending on skills, experience and education
