Position Summary

  • Lead SRF’s real estate strategy and portfolio oversight across acquisition, development, leasing, and ongoing asset management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact on real estate matters for SRF Management, coordinating across Finance, Operations, Construction, Facilities, and Legal to deliver compliant, well documented outcomes.
  • Drive multiyear planning and portfolio health monitoring with disciplined project portfolio governance to ensure that property decisions align with SRF’s mission, operational needs, and financial stewardship.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team, including project managers and real estate consultants
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance for Planning & Building and Maintenance functions in coordination with department leaders.
  • Lead a team of project managers and oversee cross functional coordination across Finance, Operations, Construction, and Facilities.

Responsibilities

  1. Strategic & Portfolio Leadership
Develop and maintain SRF’s real estate strategy so it supports SRF’s long-term goals, including where to acquire, hold, redevelop, or dispose of properties. Create multiyear real estate and occupancy plans; lead portfolio reviews to assess properties and repurposing/disposition opportunities; monitor portfolio health.
  2. Transactions & Site Strategy
Lead end to end cycles for acquisitions, dispositions, and leases—from market/site analysis through negotiations and closing – aligning with SRF’s strategic, operational and financial needs. Oversee feasibility, entitlements, and major development initiatives.
  3. Compliance, Risk & Controls
Ensure compliance with zoning, building codes, environmental regulations, lease terms, nonprofit standards, and SRF policies. Work with SRF’s Legal Department and external counsel on contracts, permits, approvals, and property related issues, and implement risk controls across all activities. Because property decisions carry legal, regulatory, and operational risk, the director oversees compliance and risk management for all real estate functions.
  4. Project Portfolio Governance
Standardize selection, planning, and delivery practices across the project portfolio; decide which projects to pursue, how to sequence them, and how to allocate resources; lead project managers and cross functional teams. Establish clear decision frameworks and escalation paths; align expectations with Management and stakeholders; manage scope and sequencing. The role focuses on aligning projects with strategy, standardizing practices, overseeing several projects at once, and leading project managers and teams.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement
Coordinate priorities with Facilities, Legal, Finance, SRF monastic leadership, and external partners; represent SRF to agencies, consultants, and real estate counterparts; act as the bridge between Management and delivery teams, ensuring clear communication for decisions, funding, and support.
  6. Asset & Facilities Oversight
Modernize asset/property management practices; oversee occupancy, performance, maintenance, and capital planning across SRF sites. Guide improvements in Facilities Management tools, workflows, and lease/tenant management (including rental housing and special use facilities).
  7. Technology & Reporting
Implement tools and reporting to track occupancy, lease data, utilities, and portfolio performance; strengthen documentation and decision workflows.
  8. Other Responsibilities
Honor and maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
Responsible to follow SRF’s policies and established processes.
    Other position-related tasks, as assigned.
