Position Summary
- Act as first contact for visitors to SRF headquarters.
- Provide sales for Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings in the form of books, tapes, CDs, DVDs, photos, etc.
- Serve as a point of reference for monastics for meetings and a variety of requests during office hours.
- Project a courteous and gracious demeanor and good communication skills while handling multiple demands. Has the ability to greet people from different cultures and can be an example of SRF to all.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the process of answering inquiries and meeting guest’s needs.
- Direct all business contacts and reserve meeting rooms as needed.
- Process Visitors’ Center orders.
- Remain vigilant of visitors on the Main grounds; following up with any suspicious behaviors.
- Assess security issues.
- Answer, screen, and forward incoming calls in a courteous manner.
- Vacuum, dust and clean glass door and shelves on a regular basis.
- Receive, sort, route mail and deliveries to the appropriate destination.
- Regular attendance and punctuality.
- Manage and resolve problematic questions or situations autonomously.
- Maintaining adequate stock levels of items at the Visitors’ Center; including use of a step ladder for upper shelving areas.
- Assist supervisor with maintaining current procedures to reflect organizational position regarding policies, availability of monastics, security protocol, problematic behavior, medical matters, etc.; dealing with situations appropriately.
- Dresses in a neat, professional and conservative appearance.
- Conduct and participate in annual fiscal four-day year-end inventory of merchandise in the Visitors’ Center.
- Honor and maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
- Responsible to follow SRF’s policies and established processes.
- Other position-related tasks, as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of and experience with SRF principles and standards.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent SRF adequately when dealing with the public.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Ability to keep one’s composure with uncooperative guests.
- Strong attention to detail.
- POS computer experience.
- Good telephone communication etiquette.
- The ability to initiate solutions for improvements and problems.
- The ability to function well in a multi-task environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required.
- The ability to climb stairs and lift up to 25-35 pounds.
- The ability to reach, stand or sit, for long periods.
Additional Details
This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position, 35.75 hours per week. The schedule is as follows:
Tuesday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Saturday – 9:45 am – 4:00 pm

Pay range: $17.00 - 19.44 per hour.
