Prayers for America at This Time of Concern

January 07, 2021

We want to share with all of our members and friends the message sent by our president, Brother Chidananda, to all SRF monastics at 3:30 yesterday afternoon (January 6) during the turbulence in Washington, D.C. We invite each of you to contribute to this prayerful effort as America seeks a way through these difficult times, knowing that your own prayers and meditations can do much to foster the understanding and bring the divine help that are so much needed for tangible progress and healing to take place.

Brother Chidananda wrote:

“I am sure many of you have been following the unprecedented events in Washington, D.C., this afternoon with great concern, as I have. We have seen the reports on national news media of the attempt of a large crowd of protestors to forcibly enter the United States Capitol Building, where the U.S. Congress was in the process of finalizing the results of the 2020 presidential election.

“Today’s events are only the latest instance of the increasing polarization and divisiveness between conflicting factions in America. I am asking all of you to use the power of concentrated prayers for peace and harmony at this unsettling moment in the history of our country. May America’s leaders of both political parties, as well as individual citizens, unite and find a way forward for the highest good of all the people, peacefully and in keeping with noblest ideals on which this country was founded and which our guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, honored and upheld.

Please join me in ongoing prayers.”
