A Weeklong Immersion in the Teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda

Online & In-Person
The 2023 Self-Realization Fellowship World Convocation will offer a weeklong program of classes on Paramahansa Yogananda’s “how-to-live” teachings and meditation techniques, guided group meditations, kirtan (devotional chanting), and more.
This year’s Convocation will be primarily an online program with some in-person events in Southern California. For those intending to come to Los Angeles, the following is some information to help with planning your trip.
In-Person Events
The in-person Convocation events will take place at most of our Southern California temples: Lake Shrine, Hollywood, Glendale, Fullerton, and Encinitas. We will be livestreaming the evening classes and evening meditations from these locations with live congregations.
Mother Center, Lake Shrine, Hollywood Temple, and Encinitas will be open 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. PST daily during the week of Convocation. Monastics will be available at these locations to host visitors.
Kriya Ceremonies will be conducted at the Lake Shrine Temple on Friday, August 4, 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. PST.
Advanced registration will be required to attend any of the in-person events.
Many SRF Centers and groups around the world will also be holding in-person Convocation viewing events. In addition, SRF monastics will be visiting several cities in the Unites States, Europe, and South America during Convocation.
Accommodations & Transportation
Because of the hybrid (online and in-person) format of this year’s Convocation, there is no central hotel for everyone as in years’ past; there are many lodging options in Los Angeles and you may want to explore travel websites such as Expedia, Hotels.com, or Airbnb for options. Quiet accommodations, which provide high-speed internet (for streaming the events) may be preferable.
Because your Convocation itinerary will be unique to you, SRF is not able to provide transportation to the different in-person events. Attendees should arrange for their own transportation as appropriate.
Please note: Depending on where you stay in Southern California, travel times to the various SRF locations can take, depending on time of day, one to two hours.

- A satsanga with SRF/YSS President Brother Chidananda
- Classes on the “How-to-Live” teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda
- Classes on the SRF meditation techniques, open to all current and graduate students of the SRF Lessons as well as to those who enroll in the Lessons

Become a Student of the SRF Lessons
The SRF Online World Convocation is open to all. However, the three classes on the Energization, Hong-Sau, and Aum Techniques, and the special class on Kriya Yoga, are available only to those who are current or past students of the Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons. (Yogoda Satsanga Society of India Lessons students are also welcome, of course.) If you are not a current or past student, we invite you to apply now for the SRF Lessons so that you may participate in the classes on these powerful techniques, which are integral to the science of Kriya Yoga taught by Paramahansa Yogananda.

The first Self-Realization Fellowship World Convocation was held by Paramahansaji in 1950 at the SRF Mother Center atop Mt. Washington in Los Angeles. Foreseeing the ever-increasing number of truth-seekers who would participate in this uplifting spiritual event as the years passed, he predicted to those who were present at that occasion:
They shall come from all parts of the world, thousands and thousands of them, just as you have, for Self-Realization is bringing the original Christianity of Christ and the original Yoga of India's Krishna so that all people of all religions can follow one highway to the Infinite.
