Position Summary
Responsible for Public Relations (PR) team workflow, as well as for collaborative projects that cover media, public outreach and advertising. Develops and implements multi-channel strategic communications campaigns and plans.
Responsibilities
- Assist PR Director with managing workflow of the department.
- Represent the PR department at meetings with other departments.
- Support the development of annual strategic communication plans, and actively manage the department workflow to accomplish its goals.
- Develop and implement PR campaigns for new books, products and services – including promotion of the annual SRF Convocation, public lecture series, online meditation services, and other events and initiatives (influencer engagement, customer service).
- Gather and apply insights from media intelligence, social listening and analytics.
- Assess and finalize public communication materials, checking for consistency, messaging, and appropriate tailoring for different audiences or platforms.
- Identify potential press and other outreach opportunities, as well as relevant story ideas to pitch to the media.
- Collaborate with other departments to develop content for distribution through various channels.
- Assess how well communications are performing and share this information with the team and stakeholders, provide and implement recommendations for improvement.
- Assist in the fielding of incoming requests, such as from the media, film companies, photographers, academia, and others.
- Prototype content, and produce new marketing materials, including those related to book launches, event promotion etc.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on trends within the body/mind/spirit marketplace; make recommendations based on findings/opportunities discovered.
- Honor and maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
- Responsible to follow SRF’s policies and established processes.
- Other position-related tasks, as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor/Master's degree in Journalism, Communications or related field.
- 5 years+ work experience at a senior level within a corporate or non-profit communications environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required; design skills a plus
- Intercultural competence and ability to work within an international organization.
- Knowledge of and experience with SRF principles and standards.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent SRF appropriately when dealing with the public.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to identify newsworthy angles and timely story ideas, and develop content for multiple platforms and audiences.
- Impeccable research skills and knowledge of research resources.
- Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Ability to troubleshoot, offer creative solutions, share new ideas, identify and fill gaps with implementation – and create final communications materials ready for publication.
- Demonstrated proficiency in digital marketing techniques, technologies, and solutions.
- Good grasp of data analysis and measurement of efforts.
- Excellent understanding and familiarity with brand building and brand management.
- A solid grasp of yoga, meditation, SRF, Paramahansa Yogananda and ability to communicate with the right tone for all communications.
- Some travel will be required to attend events in the Los Angeles area.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Demonstrated successful supervisory experience.
- The ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
Additional Details
This is a full-time, salaried non-exempt position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. PST. Nevertheless, you must be able to work a flexible schedule based on workload and deadlines.
This position is hybrid as the individual would need to be present for in-person events in Southern California.
The selected individual must satisfactorily complete our background investigation, and sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Pay range: $68,640 - $74,880 per year, depending on skills, experience and education.
