Paralegal (Hybrid)

Position Summary

• Assist lawyers in the Legal Department of an international nonprofit organization.
• Provide assistance and support for all aspects of bequests, gifts and estate administration.
• Provide litigation assistance and support.
• Assist with other Legal Department practice areas and functions as needed.
• Assist with document organization.
• Some administrative and clerical tasks to support the Department’s lawyers and Legal Operations Manager, as needed.
• Other position-related tasks, as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provide bequest processing and estate administration support, including:
  • Prepare legal, financial and corporate documents related to planned gifts,
  • Monitor estate and trust administrations through completion of the matter including working with legal counsel and reviewing legal documents,
  • Communicate and coordinate with legal counsel, financial institutions and internal departments related to bequest processing,
  • Track deadlines and follow up as needed,
  • Create reports, and
  • Ensure workflows comply with SRF policies and legal standards.
• Provide a variety of legal support services to the Legal Department’s attorneys, as needed.
• File management.
• General administrative support to the Department’s lawyers and Legal Operations Manager, as assigned.
• Responsible for following the Department’s and SRF’s established standards, policies, and processes and adhering to SRF’s established values.
• Honor and maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
• Other position-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate from a program approved by the American Bar Association, or current attorney certification of completion of paralegal requirements required.
• At least three years’ experience as a paralegal required; at least one year experience in estate and trust administration required.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: contracts, corporate transactions, litigation, real estate or immigration.
• Excellent project management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and dedication to accuracy.
• Ability to work well in a collaborative, team environment.
• Ability to represent SRF and Legal Department appropriately when dealing with opposing and outside counsel, personal representatives, vendors, SRF members and other SRF departments.
• Proficiency in Windows OS, Microsoft Office programs required.
• Proficiency in legal matter management, and/or task management systems preferred.

Additional Details

This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. PST.

The position is hybrid. Office location is in the Los Angeles, 90065 zip code. Local candidates only please.  No reimbursement for relocation costs offered for this position.

Pay range: $24.00 - $31.00 per hour, depending on skills, experience and education.
