Given the health crisis in many countries due to the coronavirus pandemic, we hope and pray that you are taking all necessary preventive measures to remain safe and healthy. During this time, when all of us have to walk through uncharted territory, it is heartening to see SRF/YSS devotees rise to the occasion and manifest their innate soul qualities of faith, courage, spiritual strength, and support for each other, including in the form of deep prayer.

Emphasizing the power of prayer, Paramahansa Yogananda said: “Most men consider the course of events as natural and inevitable. They little know what radical changes are possible through prayer.” As you might be aware, SRF monks and nuns pray daily for those who have requested prayers, and for the well-being of all devotees and the world at large. And for many years, the members of the SRF/YSS Worldwide Prayer Circle have also been contributing powerfully to this effort — in services at our temples and centers around the globe and in their individual homes.

All of us can make the power of our prayers even more effective by a focused and concerted group effort. In Self-Realization Fellowship ashrams, all the monastics are praying for healing of others, and for world harmony and peace, daily at specific times and we invite those who wish to do so to join. Following are the times that the monks and nuns at the SRF International Headquarters and other locations in California will be offering these healing prayers: (All times in P.D.T.)

  • 7:50 – 8:00 a.m.
  • 12:50 – 1:00 p.m.
  • 6:50 – 7:00 p.m.

If more convenient for your time zone, you may also consider joining in during the times of the healing prayer services in the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India ashrams. More information is available on the YSS website.

If the above timings are not suitable to your schedule, we suggest that you pray at any other time that fits into your daily routine. At the end of your prayers, we recommend you perform the healing technique as taught by Paramahansaji.

When establishing the Worldwide Prayer Circle, Paramahansaji said: “When the prayers of thousands are united, the powerful vibrations of peace and divine healing thus generated are of inestimable value in helping to manifest the desired results.”

May this encouraging thought bring you strength and help you to visualize the world receiving our collective prayers. And may you ever remain safe in the fortress of Divine Protection.

On a different page on the SRF Blog, you can find a video of SRF/YSS President Brother Chidananda leading the practice of Paramahansa Yogananda’s healing technique, from the end of a guided meditation and message of spiritual assurance from March 14, 2020. We provide this excerpt from that talk for those who wish to perform the healing technique with Brother Chidananda as part of their own efforts of praying for others and the world.
