We are happy you will be joining us for one of our 2026 SRF Convocation Pilgrimage Tours. We hope the following information will help to answer any questions you may have:
Departure times
Please check your itinerary on your My Registration page for your pilgrimage tour date and departure time.
Hotel Departure Location
Buses for all pilgrimage tours depart from the Figueroa Street entrance of the Bonaventure Hotel.
Languages
Unless otherwise noted on your registration, all pilgrimage tours are conducted in English.
Wheelchairs
SRF does not provide wheelchairs. You may bring your own or rent one from the hotel.
Lunch
Lunch will be served, but we suggest that you have a light breakfast before leaving the hotel.
Attire
Please wear comfortable and modest attire, appropriate for visiting an ashram center. Depending on the weather conditions, you may want to consider bringing a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses.
Pilgrimages to the Mother Center, Lake Shrine, and to Hollywood Temple and Forest Lawn Memorial Park will last approximately five hours, including travel time. Buses are scheduled to return to the Bonaventure Hotel in time for the afternoon classes.
Travel from Los Angeles to Encinitas and San Diego
Pilgrimage buses will depart from the Bonaventure Hotel on Sunday, August 9; please check your pilgrimage tour details on your My Registration page for your specific departure time. A light refreshment will be served during the bus journey.
Note: If you registered for the Encinitas Pilgrimage Tour “join at the gate” option, you are responsible for your own transportation to and from Encinitas.
Passports
Please be aware that during the return trip buses may be required to stop at an immigration check point. The authorities have informed us that those who are not U.S. citizens must have their passports with them, or they will be subject to arrest and loss of their visas. U.S. citizens should have identification, such as a valid driver's license, to provide proof of residence.
Return Travel from Encinitas and San Diego to Los Angeles
Pilgrimage buses will depart Encinitas between 1:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., and from San Diego Temple at 4:30 p.m., returning to Los Angeles in approximately three hours. Please allow sufficient time for connecting travel arrangements in case there are unexpected delays.
Note: The buses from the San Diego Temple to Los Angeles will not stop in Encinitas on the return trip.
Luggage
We ask that those taking the return buses to Los Angeles not bring your luggage with you during the pilgrimage tour. We recommend that you check your luggage with the bell captain at the Bonaventure Hotel, located near the lobby, prior to your departure for Encinitas. The Bonaventure Hotel will accept and keep your luggage until your return from the pilgrimage, even if you are staying at other hotels in the downtown area. Those staying in Encinitas or San Diego may bring their luggage with them on the bus.
Meals
A complete lunch will be served on the Encinitas ashram grounds at designated times. Please refer to the pilgrimage schedule, which will be given to you on the bus, for your meal time.
Weather
The weather may be warm and sunny in Encinitas and San Diego or it may be cool and overcast. You will be outdoors most of the day so please consider bringing layers, a hat, sunscreen, comfortable shoes, and sunglasses.
