The Self-Realization Fellowship Temple in San Diego was established in 1943 by Paramahansa Yogananda, and he conducted services here for many years. It is located in the Banker’s Hill area, about 1.5 miles from downtown San Diego.
Self-Realization Fellowship monks and nuns lead inspirational services on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Regular meditations are led by SRF lay members throughout the week.
The temple gardens are open to the public daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The intimate, leafy grounds offer peaceful spaces for quiet reflection and meditation.

When Paramahansa Yogananda first saw the site which would become the San Diego Temple, he said: “This is it. My mind refuses to go elsewhere after seeing this building.”
In the months that followed, he personally oversaw repair and remodeling work on the thirty-year-old building. He formally dedicated the new temple on September 5, 1943, offering a prayer that “this church...may serve to unite all people and all religions in the worship of Thee, O God, in the one temple of our hearts and in the temples of all religions.” Paramahansaji would continue to conduct regular services at the temple throughout most of the 1940s.

Paramahansaji’s many years of loving service at this ‘Church of All Religions’ — imparting his profound revelations of a universal spirituality, meditating in samadhi, counseling, healing, and blessing individual devotees — saturated this site with divinity.
