The "Hidden” Love and Joy of God

Description

The hidden wonders of God’s love and joy surround us and beckon to us in seemingly mundane and yet miraculous ways. They can take the form of a child at play, a sign on the street, a fellow worker’s comment — or even plans gone awry! Paramahansa Yogananda said that “yoga is the art of doing everything with the consciousness of God,” and as we condition our mind to the realization of His immanence in little ways each day, we find, naturally and effortlessly, that He has become a tangible, loving presence in our life.

Marriage and Family Life: Building a Spiritual Foundation

Description

How we treat one another determines whether or not we grow in mutual love and respect, and this is just as true in families as in any other relationship. This class will focus on the eternal principles of harmonious relationships as they pertain to marriage and the rearing of children; and discuss how to balance the many responsibilities of family life. As we do our best to make our home a loving, supportive spiritual environment, we feel the wonderful inner contentment that comes when we are in tune with God’s plan for the world. This class offers guidance for all, regardless of whether married or single.

Developing a Moment-to-Moment Relationship With God

Description

How can I connect my spiritual aspirations with my life in the world?”  This is the constant question of every sincere spiritual seeker. The Bhagavad Gita offers a profound answer: “The reverent presentation to Me of a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or water, given with pure intention, is a devotional offering acceptable in My sight.”  Through the inner attitude of offering everything we do — in our lives and in our meditations — at the feet of God and Guru, we can transform our lives. When in this way we bring God into everything we do, we develop a vibrantly personal and intimate relationship with the Divine.

Are We Letting Life’s Circumstances Control Us?

Description

In order to keep our spiritual life strong and on course, we must cultivate a spiritually secure and harmonious inner environment in order to resist negative responses by difficult people and circumstances. Introspection is a vital tool that helps us to intelligently sift through our thoughts, feelings and behavior and learn the lessons personal as well as world circumstances are trying to teach us, so that each day we can grow in our confidence and ability “to be in the world and yet not of it.”

Divine Friendship: Seeing God in All

Description

We hear it said that we’re lucky if we can find even one friend that we can count on. Why is this so often the case? Because many relationships are based on material and ego-based desires — relationships that can never plumb the depths of divine friendship. Divine friendship is unconditional and all-inclusive, and requires us to look past the outward aspects of an individual and recognize their inner being — the soul. This class will discuss the beautiful ways that Paramahansa Yogananda gave for perfecting the art of divine friendship — and, in doing so, embracing the one Great Friend in all.

Pilgrimages

Eand P World Convocation Program Pilgrimages
Welcoming Convocation participants during a Lake Shrine Temple pilgrimage

We invite you to join guided pilgrimages to our ashram centers, temples, hermitages, and retreats, where the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere offer refreshment to mind and spirit. Most of these spiritual centers were established by Paramahansa Yogananda during his lifetime, and have since become places of pilgrimage for thousands of people each year who come from all parts of the globe to visit the sites where this great world teacher lived, worked, and communed with God. Please note that the pilgrimages to the Mother Center, Lake Shrine, the Hollywood Temple, and our Guru's crypt at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park will be conducted at the same times as the morning meditations, kirtans and satsangas. There will be kirtans and talks at the pilgrimage sites. The ashram centers, temples, and retreats will only be open to those attending the pilgrimages.

Pilgrimages may be selected when you register for Convocation.
