Non-profit Yoga organization is seeking a Refectory Supervisor with three years’ experience for our Kitchen. This is a 40 hour per week position, Thursday through Monday.
Creates daily menus and balanced nutrition, including special dietary needs, and provides supplies and equipment needed for all special events and holidays.
Maintains superior food service with emphasis on personal safety, food safety, and sanitation.
Manages time, scheduling, processes and systems according to Dept. of Environmental Health guidelines, and in accordance with organizational policies and requirements.
Oversees scheduling of employees and volunteers, verifies accuracy of time sheets.
Evaluates efficiency and productivity of employees.
Trains employees in all operating procedures and food preparation, including physical safety, and keeps production records for use in supervision.
Trains, schedules and delegates supervisory responsibilities to a back-up Assistant and/or a Lead Cook to provide seven day a week supervisory coverage.
Provides input and makes recommendations on workflow improvements, work assignments, system enhancements, staff education and discipline needs.
Assists in interviews and selection of kitchen personnel
Other position related tasks, as assigned.
Minimum of three years prior cooking experience required.
Minimum of three years prior supervisory experience required.
Food Handler Certificate required.
Prior knowledge of vegetarian cooking preferred.
SERVSAFE Sanitation training required (will be provided).
Ability to supervise and direct employees in all phases of food preparation and handling based on food safety guidelines (SERVSAFE), as well as in accordance with our policies and requirements.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Computer skills a plus.
Must be able to lift and transport up to 50 pounds, and push and pull up to 200 pounds. Work involves continuous periods of standing, repetitive wrist and forearm motions.
Basic math skills required.
