Review bequest files for follow up and to ensure that legal documents received by SRF are valid; maintain bequest files
Assist in the administration of wills and estates for SRF members and friends by preparing and completing legal documents and corresponding with the appropriate persons until bequest distribution is received
Oversee and draft legal and financial documents that are required for SRF to receive planned gifts including coordination with other areas within SRF such as Office of the President, Office of the Treasurer, Planning and Building, Accounting, Archives, Incoming Mail and Membership Services
Other position-related tasks, as assigned.
Knowledge of and experience with SRF principles and standards.
Bachelor’s Degree in related field or Paralegal certificate required
Minimum of 3 years’ working experience as a paralegal in corporate, tax, probate, and/or estate planning areas with a working knowledge of estate planning and tax regulations
Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a non-profit preferred
Knowledge of financial institution, investment broker, and banking methods to transfer cash and stocks preferred
Analytical skills and strong attention to detail
Ability to learn and apply the SRF Planned Giving methods and training to assist SRF membership and friends with their legacies to SRF
Assist with and expand outreach to SRF membership
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with SRF members, financial institutions, executors, trustees, administrators, and outside legal counsel as directed
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work harmoniously with Legal Department staff members, contributing as a member of a team
Ability to take direction and guidance from others
The ability to honor and maintain a strict level of confidentiality
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent written and verbal skills, thorough and organized
Motivates others, provides well thought out solutions and welcomes responsibility
Good with follow-through, punctual, reliable, and honest.
Ability to sit or stand for extended period of time
Ability to lift, carry or push up to 15 lbs.
Ability to sit at computer station and focus for an extended period of time
This is a 40 hour per week Monday through Friday position.
