Inner Peace: Divine Antidote for Stress, Worry, and Fear
This class will focus on how the pressures and insecurities of life can be met
from an inner center of peace and strength born of daily communion with God. By
meditation, we can learn to anchor ourselves in shanti, “the peace that passeth all
understanding,” as a divine reality that transcends all challenges of upsetting outer
conditions. The art of mental and physical relaxation, the science of evenmindedness,
and other important points will also be explored as aids to deepening our meditations
and living in this world as a blessed peacemaker for ourselves, our family and friends,
and the world at large.
Tuesday, August 5, 7:30 p.m.
Karma and Reincarnation: Understanding the Twists and Turns of Life
What a complex mystery life and death appear to be! However, by a deeper understanding
of the synchronistic workings of karma and reincarnation, cosmic laws governing
the evolution of every soul, we learn to view the world from a divine perspective.
This class will show how to make spiritual sense of the multiple challenges that confront
us as we move from life to life, and day to day, and how we can respond to these challenges
in a personal and meaningful way, hastening our soul progress and attainment
of God-realization.
Wednesday, August 6, 7:30 p.m.
The Bhagavad Gita: Masterful Guide for Everyday Spiritual Living
The illuminating guidance in Paramahansa Yogananda’s commentary on the
Bhagavad Gita, God Talks With Arjuna, helps us to learn how to destroy every barrier that
has kept us from realizing the fulfillment that is ours as souls made in the image of God.
This class will explore how we can successfully apply the Gita’s wisdom in our everyday
actions, duties, and decisions. By doing so, we can achieve the Gita’s eternal promise to every soul: complete victory in the physical, moral, psychological, and metaphysical
struggles of life, and the unbounded freedom and joy of Spirit experienced in our daily
living.
Thursday, August 7, 7:30 p.m.
The Guru’s Love and Care for Each Disciple
In the sacred guru-disciple relationship, we find a divine love and caring that ceaselessly
guides and supports the disciple through all the blessings, struggles, and learning
experiences we undergo on the spiritual path. This class will show how to cultivate the
attunement that reveals — behind the unconditional and very personal friendship of the
guru, the infinite liberating love and grace of God.
Friday, August 8, 7:30 p.m.
Developing Our Spiritual Nature: Bringing Out Our Best Soul Qualities
This class will show how we can develop within ourselves a nobility of character
that will directly bring us into attunement with our true spiritual nature. It will explore
how each of us can draw on powerful resources of mind and spirit to create a life in
balanced harmony with the ultimate purpose of creation. By doing so, we steadily move
toward the great spiritual freedom and expansion of consciousness that enables us to
truly love and to serve — to be a powerful force for good in the human family.
Saturday, August 9, 1:00 p.m.
The Compelling Magnet of Divine Love
Paramahansa Yogananda said: “God’s love is so all-embracing that no matter what
wrongs we have done, He forgives us. If we love Him with all of our hearts He wipes out
our karma.” This closing class will focus on how we can open our hearts and minds more
fully to receive that all-satisfying divine love. In doing so, we gain an unshakable inner
assurance that we are loved and cherished unconditionally by God, in every moment of
this life, and for all eternity.
